5th International Small-Form Ceramics Exhibition “Cup 2025”

9 Decemberber, 2025 – 1 February, 2026

The Applied Arts and Design Museum will host the 5th International Small-Form Ceramics Exhibition “Cup 2025” from 2025 12 09 to 2026 02 01. This year’s exhibition brings together 58 artists from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Georgia, Greece, and Ukraine. The participants include both internationally acclaimed ceramic artists and emerging creators and students, reflecting the broad spectrum of contemporary small-form ceramics.

This year’s exhibition invites the viewer to consider the cup as an intimate companion of everyday life—an object which, in the hands of an artist, acquires metaphorical, conceptual, or even ritual qualities. It provides an opportunity to observe how materiality, surface, and form construct the semantic structure of the artwork. The theme of the cup becomes a point of departure for both functional and sculptural expression, revealing the individuality of each creator and their relationship with the material.

The exhibition showcases a wide range of ceramic materials and firing techniques: from delicate bone china to chamotte, stoneware, and red and white clay. Visitors will encounter works created through ancient reduction firing, raku, anagama, wood-fired soda, and electric kiln techniques. This diversity highlights the cup’s ability to function simultaneously as a utilitarian object and a compact artistic statement full of conceptual and aesthetic tension.

You are cordially invited to the opening of the exhibition on 9 December 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Museum of Applied Arts and Design, Arsenalo St. 3A, Vilnius.
